On Saturday April 6th a new Academy for Mathematics & English was born in Pickering located in the Brookdale Centre which has Home Depot and Shopper’s Drug Mart as anchor stores.

Congratulations to Nicole Aikman-Smith and Mark Smith and their team Cheryl Naylor, Mikayla and Maliek Smith for making the Pickering Academy tutoring centre opening such a huge success.

The turnout was AMAZING!

Among the attendees were the Deputy Mayor, Kevin Ash and Musa Mansuar, the Ward 1 regional councillor, Jennifer O’Connell, the Member of Parliament for Pickering-Uxbridge and Pastor Symon from Westney Baptist Church.

A steady flow of people came throughout the day and by day’s end 12 appointments for evaluations had been booked and students have already been enrolled.

For the first time in the history of the Academy a brand new owner made a speech at the ribbon cutting. And what a speech it was – straight from the heart, welcoming and inviting the community to celebrate the opening of the newest Academy.

Nicole, with her tremendous enthusiasm and friendly, sparkling personality and with the support of her incredible husband Mark can only take this Academy to great heights.
