Gene

Gene

Gene is a student of the Honours Life Sciences Program at McMaster University. He is an Ontario scholar and a member of the Dean’s List. Gene has an interest in sports and won first place in the HOSA Spring Leadership Conference for Sports Medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, badminton and volleyball.

Gene tutors our Grades K-12 students in Math and our Grades 9-12 students in Science. Gene is a great addition to the Upper Oakville Academy team!

Karim

Karim

Karim is currently completing his Bachelors of Engineering at McMaster University. He is an alumni of King’s Christian Collegiate in Oakville, having graduated as an Ontario Scholar. Karim enjoys being active in his spare time, choosing to play sports such as basketball and soccer and playing music including the drums and guitar.

Karim teaches our students Math at all grade levels and Science to our Grades 9-12 students. We are happy to have him with us!

Maryam

Maryam

Maryam is completing her Bachelor of Science program in Biomedical Sciences from Guelph University, where she is on the Dean’s List. She is an Ontario Scholar and an alum of Thomas A. Blakelock High School in Oakville. In her spare time, Maryam enjoys reading, knitting and researching.

Maryam teaches English to our students from K to Grade 8. She teaches Math to our Junior and Intermediate students. We are happy to have Maryam with us at the Academy!

Maryanna

Maryanna

Maryanna is currently completing her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of Toronto. She is a graduate of the acclaimed International Baccaleaurate (IB) Program. Maryanna is a Dean’s List Scholar at UofT and graduated with High Academic Honours and Distinction with a GPA of 3.9+ from the IB Program. Maryanna is passionate about humanitarian action, and has spent her free time volunteering around the world privately as well as with organizations to build schools, donate supplies and organize educational activities.

She teaches our Junior and Intermediate students in Math, and our K – Grade 8 students in English. We are happy to have Maryanna with us!

Sharan

Sharan

Sharan is currently completing her Masters of Education from the University of Toronto at OISE. She is a graduate of the University of Waterloo Honours Health Sciences Program and an alumni of Oakville’s Iroquois Ridge High School. An Ontario Scholar, Sharan received the prestigious University of Waterloo Merit Scholarship and was a member of the Dean’s List. She enjoys working with children to achieve their educational goals, and has been a Teacher’s Assistant for elementary school students and a Student Ambassador for university students. She was also a member of the Tutoring Mentorship Club at the University of Waterloo. Sharan enjoys reading, hiking and biking in her spare time. She also counts makeup artistry as one of her passions and is a self-taught makeup artist.

She teaches our Elementary students in Math and English and our Intermediate students in Math. Sharan is a great addition to the Academy team!

Will

Will

Will is an Honours BSc Physics graduate from the University of Toronto. Throughout his high school and university career, he won numerous awards and certificates, including a Bronze Medal in The University Physics Competition, National AP Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction. He is an Oakville Trafalgar High School Alum. When he is not working, Will enjoys brushing up on his many hobbies including skiing, paddle boarding, technology and astronomy. He is also an accredited Violoncello musician, and holds Level 10 Violoncello Honours with the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Will teaches our Junior and High School students in Math, Physics and Chemistry. We are pleased to have Will with us at the Academy!

William

William is completing his Honours Bachelors of Arts and Science in combination with Computer Science from McMaster University. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto Schools with both an OSSD and UTS Diploma. William is an Ontario Scholar and a member of the Dean’s Honour List. He is a recipient of the Raymond Lee Award in Community Service and the UTS Bronze Shield. William is active in the McMaster student community and is currently a research assistant in the MAPLE Music Cognition Lab, a member of the Percussion ensemble, and has a podcast about human behaviour named “Irrational me” on CFMU 93.3 FM. In his spare time, William enjoys playing and composing music, reading, and exercising.

William teaches Math to all grade levels and Physics to Grade 11 & 12 students. We are happy to have William with us!

Yasmin

Yasmin is currently completing her Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto. Yasmin has earned numerous awards and recognitions throughout her education, including the UofT Entrance Award and is a repeat Dean’s List Scholar. She is a graduate of Abbey Park High School, during which time she was an Ontario Scholar, a member of the Honours Society, and was the winner of numerous Math and Science fairs and competitions. Yasmin is active with organizations at UofT and the local community, such as Future Health Professionals, the Academic Skills Centre, Accessibility Services and STEM Fellowship. In her spare time, Yasmin enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her loved ones.

She teaches Math to all grade levels, Science to Grade 9 to 12 students, as well as English to our Elementary students. Yasmin is a great addition to the Academy team!

Zarin

Zarin is a Masters of Engineering graduate from Ryerson University, with an Honours Bachelors of Science degree from University of Toronto. Zarin loves working with children, having worked as a camp counsellor and peer mediator. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, crafts and watching documentaries.

Zarin tutors our Junior students in Math, as well as our Elementary students in English. We are pleased to have Zarin as a part of the Academy team!
